Self inquiry
Self inquiry in the life coaching process is normally about sorting out and harmonising flow between mind body emotion and spirit.

Self inquiry in the sense of Who am I is conducted within the framework of
Self Dialogue, an experimental approach in life coaching offered by Conscious Life Skills Coaching.

Go deeply enough into the question 'Who am I?' and you  may find that who you believed yourself to be is actually no more  than passing thoughts feelings emotions and sensations. We're  changing all the time. Yet behind all the change, somewhere in the background and drowned out by all the everyday 'stuff' that holds our  attention, there's something that has remained constant and  unchanging throughout our lives. There are many names for this something - Consciousness,  Oneness, God, Tao, Love, Source. It is something that is felt, and beyond words, and is available solely through. personal and direct experience.

The journey of water provides an elegant metaphor for the sense of a greater constancy behind everything. Water journeys from sky to earth and back again in its journey around the globe. It takes many forms - clouds, ice, rain drops, rivers and tears. But it is still water. When it is present in its different forms, each form may appear separate and distinct, but it is still water in its essence and its capacity. The distinct forms of water are like an illusion, or a dream, when you understand the essence of water.

Self inquiry through Self Dialogue is basically the process of taking this understanding of the essence of water and applying similar understanding to understanding the essence of your self. It's a turning inwards to find out the cause, nature and purpose of your existence, rather than looking outwards. You seek the message that is your life.

When you feel or intuit this constancy, you begin to recognize that it is
pure, impersonal presence and awareness. You  discover the ego is nothing but an idea and a name that we've given to the structure of the body-mind. This doesn’t mean the ego is gone, or destroyed. Ego is simply seen as a tool, that aids us to live in the outer everyday world that we're immersed in. In that context, we could be lost without the body-mind structure.

The reward of ongoing self inquiry is experiencing a greater presence of who you are, in the moment, your essence expressing as a deeply abiding sense of freedom, unity and peace. You simply are, Life or God or Love. There is no separation between you and Life or you and God or you and Love or You and Others. This is the experience of ‘living in the now’ as expressed by Eckhart Tolle and countless others throughout human history.
